The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (‘NFSA’) is Australia’s rich repository of audiovisual material. We are responsible for developing, preserving, maintaining, promoting and providing access to a significant cultural and historical record of the nation’s audiovisual and related material. This material ranges from recorded sound from the late nineteenth century—the earliest days of Australia’s sound and screen industries—to the present. We hold ~2.5 million items in its collection, including discs, films, videos, audio tapes, phonograph cylinders and wire recordings.
Reporting to the Board, the Chief Executive Officer (‘CEO’) is responsible for NFSA’s overall strategy and day-to-day management, including enriching relationships with industry and Government and playing a critical, lead role in a contemporary, whole-of-sector, collaborative approach to archiving.
