Iowa State University Library is currently seeking applicants for an avIAn Project Coordinator. This position serves as the administrative assistant and project manager for the Avian Archives of Iowa Online (avIAn). avIAn is a two-year project supported by the “Digitizing Hidden Special Collections and Archives” program for digitizing collections of rare and unique content in cultural heritage institutions. The Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR) administers the program with the generous support of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

The University of Minnesota Archives seeks to hire a Project Archivist to assist in a digital conversion project of audio recordings related to the University’s radio station, KUOM. Each converted audio recording will be reformatted to a digital archival format, receive descriptive and technical metadata, pass a quality control check, and will be made publicly available through the University of Minnesota’s online UMedia Archive as well as shared through the Digital Public Library of America and the American Archive for Public Broadcasting websites. The Project Archivist oversees all aspects of project tasks under supervision of Principal Investigator including sequencing materials for transfer to vendor; creating descriptions for digital objects; implementing quality control measures; identifying and updating collection management information; and promoting the project and availability of digital content. This is a temporarily funded position for the University of Minnesota Archives. The position reports to the University Archivist.

CLIR seeks candidates for a Program Associate for a new grant program, Recordings at Risk. The incumbent will be responsible for supporting all regular, day-to-day activities for the program, which supports preservation reformatting of unique audio and audiovisual content of high value to scholars.
